Watertronics developed the patented Electronic Butterfly Valve technology (“EBV”) in 1987 and since then it has become the standard of reliability in the pumping industry. EBV’s are a key differentiating feature that helps our pump stations out-perform the competition. (read more in our EBV Tech Sheet)
The EBV system is a stand-alone pump controller designed to regulate pressure or flow, sustain backpressure, and eliminate pump starting and stopping surges. Our customers often request our EBV system as an enhancement to VFD controls where they serve not only as a redundant back-up system to the VFD, but they also enhance VFD station performance by eliminating lag pump starting and stopping surges and allowing full control of every pump on the system.
EBV technology creates a smooth pumping process by individually controlling pump output to regulate pressure, anticipate and reduce surges, and eliminate check valve slamming.
What Makes EBV Unique?
Watertronics EBVs utilize advanced control algorithms refined over many years and over 4000 installations to provide intelligent control of a pumping system. Because the control of the EBV is integrated with the pump station controller we can anticipate sequencing events and provide a truly coordinated control system. The EBV has the robustness of a Hydraulic control valve combined with the efficiency and precision of a VFD. Unlike a Hydraulic valve there are no wetted component that are affected by dirty water conditions. And because the EBV’s run on secondary 120 Volt controls they excel in bad power environments.
All functions you would expect from VFD systems, PID based control, Programmable pressure and flow ramp times, pipe-saver System filling, and system resistance based pressure regulation are incorporated into our exclusive EBV system. The simplicity of the EBV provides reliable service and reduced maintenance.
